Umami Burger East

My comfort food obsession of the last few months has been none other than the Umami Burger. The original La Brea location is a stones throw away from home, but small and tends to get packed. So when I read about a bigger (better) version opening on the eastside, I was jumping for joy.

Umami Burger East opened earlier in the month with great excitement. It’s comfortably spacious and has more of a creative-industrial-japanese ambiance than La Brea’s spare-james-perse vibe. Either locale serves up the most succulent, juicy vegetarian version of the Umami Burger. The portabello mushroom, parmesan crisp, sweet buns… I don’t know what they do to these burgers, but they sure are divine. It’s the perfect size and unlike the hated ordeal of a burger falling apart, they hold up to the last bite! Plus, this location has a larger selection of burgers, sides & my favorite sweet potato fries (pass on the house ketchup, go for the garlic aioli instead)! Order it with Buderim’s spicy ginger brew and the combo is

the veggie umami burger

how fun

More Umami locations in the works… owner Adam Fleischman will be taking over Snackbar next to Urban Outfitters at the Cahuenga Corridor soon… as well as Fred Segal Santa Monica.

Oh my Portabello! We love that mushroom and that burger looks scrumptious! Sophie, whenever Kris and I come down to visit, you must take us there! xoxo
