Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday opened with the debut of Tom Shadyac’s new documentary I AM, and through asking “What are we doing wrong” we discover human nature’s shining qualities and the evidence that we are all connected. Guy Laramee’s monumental book sculptures

Artist Guy Laramee carves incredible landscapes out of vintage books, dictionaries and encyclopedias in his Great Wall and Biblios series. Erosion of cultures is the continual theme that runs through the last 25 years of his works. In his artist statement:
“I carve landscapes out of books and I paint Romantic landscapes. Mountains of disused knowledge return to what they really are: mountains. They erode a bit more and they become hills. Then they flatten and become fields where apparently nothing is happening. Piles of obsolete encyclopedias return to that which does not need to say anything, that which simply IS. Fogs and clouds erase everything we know, everything we think we are.“

Turkish Airlines’ gorgeous CIP Lounge

Located in Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport International Departures Terminal is Turkish Airlines’ new CIP Lounge.
Designed by Istanbul’s own Autoban studio with the concept of a shell within the airport shell, the lounge spans 32,300 sq. feet with a daily capacity for 2000 people. A series of arcade arches create distinct yet cohesive spaces for a restaurant, tea garden, screening room, library and resting rooms. Even the mechanical and electrical systems are hidden behind the black channels that frame each arch!
If only every airport lounge could be this thoughtful and beautiful…

Splash, the high-end retailer in Dubai commissioned Indian photographer and graphic design Tejal Patni to create their Limited Edition 2011 Calendar. Patni teamed up with New York stylist Kirsten Hermans in creating a surrealist gothic landscape and feel a la Tim Burton. Dark and dreamy!
