Cotton paper enchantress: Anna-Wili Highfield

07/15/2010

Anna-Wili Highfield is a Sydney-based artist who makes magical creatures from cotton paper. Her process was inspired during her pregnancy and the desire to create something special for her daughter’s nursery. She had paper and thread readily available, from which she made these wonderous animals with so much spirit and majesty. Besides paper, she also sculpts with copper pipes to create sculptures reminiscent of line drawings.

I would love to have one of her pieces in my home someday. A magnificent horse… or maybe a wise bird.
